Automated Call-Out System
Published on Apr 25, 2019 14:53

Beginning May 6th, 2019, St. Angela Merici Catholic School will begin using an automated call-out system to contact parents when a student is absent from school without an excuse, i.e., a call from a parent informing the school that the student will be absent or arriving late. Attendance is taken in the morning and again in the afternoon, following the end of the lunch break (1:20 PM). If your child’s teacher indicates an absence at the time attendance is taken, our automated system will place a call to the “School-to-Home Communication” number on file.

Parents who receive a call will have the option of providing a reason code for their child’s absence, directly through the phone:

  • Press 2 if [Student First Name] was ill.
  • Press 3 if  [Student First Name] has an appointment.
  • Press 4 if the absence should be considered Vacation.
  • Press 5 if this absence should be excused for another reason.
  • Press 6 if none of the previous options are appropriate and you would like a school office administrator to call you.

To facilitate this process, we are reminding parents and guardians to complete the School-to-Home Communication Google Form, ONLY if you haven’t yet done so. The form requires the parent/guardian to include the child’s email address (which board staff will use to identify the student number and automatically sync to the correct student in PowerSchool, the Board’s student data program).  This information was recently sent home.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this. The information you provide on this form will assist with communication between the school and your home. If you need any assistance, please contact the office and one of our Office Administrators, Mrs. Vernon or Mrs. Gillard, will be happy to help you.
